My Top 5 iPhone Accessories

Filed in Accessories 1 comments

I’ve had my iPhone since October and have found that I use 5 accessories regularly to improve my calling, listening and browsing experience with my much loved gadget. I realize that being a relatively new user to the iPhone that this list may change over time. But for now here it is…

Mophie Juice Pack Air

This is my favorite and most used accessory since I use my iPhone not just for phone calls but for using applications, browsing the web, listening to audio books and music as well as having Notifications on, Location on, Bluetooth on and push email.  My daily use of my iPhone requires extra battery charging and rather than depending on having a charger handy all the time I love having a case that also has a battery to give me that extra juice to get through the day.  The Mophie Juice Pack Air is not cheap,  it goes for $79.95 through Mophie, a few dollars cheaper on Amazon, however it gives me peace of mind and worth the investment.

The case/battery charger does add bulk to the iPhone though I don’t mind.  It actually is easier for me to type with two thumbs in portrait mode than without the case.  My one complaint is the case is too smooth and sometimes slips on uneven surfaces though it has never slipped from my hand.  I have a white hard case.  Mophie now has come out with a red case that is softer and from my understanding less slippery.  Part of me wants to get the red and sell my white case on eBay…maybe for Christmas.

Power Support Anti-Glare Film

Well I lied above…the anti-glare screen protector from Apple is my most used accessory since it is on the screen all the time.  Woe is me!  Anyway, I tried different screen protectors that were cheaper and constantly had the problem of bubbles.  I tried and tried to get a screen protector on without bubbles and it was one of the most frustrating experiences with my iPhone.  I also hated the clear screen protectors that would have smudges and fingerprints all over the screen after a bit of use.  I have an iPod Touch and got the Power Support Anti-Glare Film when I bought the unit and loved the feel of it and the lack of fingerprints all over the screen after some use.

The film comes in a set of two and costs $14.95 through Apple.  It also comes with a pre-installation film that gets rid of any small particles on the screen before you apply the screen protector and it was a breeze to put the film on my iPhone.  I held my breath as I applied the film and let out a sigh of relief when I saw there were no bubbles and no particles of dirt or dust under the film that had to be removed.  Woo hoo!  The lack of frustration for me made my investment of $14.95 worth every penny.

ZAGG Z buds

I hate the headphones that come with the iPhone, they just don’t fit my ears properly.  When I walk on the treadmill at the gym I need a pair of earphones that will stay in my ear.  I have some Skullcandy earbuds that worked will but I wanted a set of earbuds with a mic and music controls.  About a month ago ZAGG had a 1/2 price sale on their Z buds which regulary retail for $79.99 but I got them for $39.99 and I love them.  The earbuds come with a variety of adapters to get the right fit and comfort for most ear types.  The cord is long, doesn’t get tangled up and has a unique design where you can put the cord around your neck and have the earbuds in your ears or hang around your neck without falling off.  Check out the video on ZAGG’s website.

The sound quality is excellent.  I mostly listen to audio books and the narrations are clear while listening to music I find is close to having a pair of good quality headphones on.  I especially love the long, tangle-free cord and earbud adapters that fit my ears with no worry of the buds falling out when exercising.

BlueAnt V1 Bluetooth Headset

I originally bought my BlueAnt V1 headset for my Samsung Omnia and was delighted that it worked flawlessly with my iPhone.  The BlueAnt headset has a voice control option but I turned that off and just use the iPhone voice control so all I have to do is say “call so and so” and the call is placed.  The sound quality is excellent and like my ZAGG Z buds it came with different sized earbuds to accommodate large and small ears.  It also has an over-the-ear clip that is removable but I keep it on for comfort.  The BlueAnt V1 isn’t cheap, it costs over $70 on Amazon but I have had cheaper bluetooth headsets that left much to be desired.  The BlueAnt V1 fits the bill for me.

So, those are my top 5 iPhone accessories to date.  I also have a BlueAnt Bluetooth Car Speakerphone which comes in handy and a few cases I use when I don’t have the Mophie Juice Pack Air on the iPhone.  I’m still looking for the perfect case so any suggestions are welcomed.

What are your top iPhone accessories?  I would love to know so I can check them out.
