ProCamera Almost Does It All

Since I have gotten my iPhone 3GS I have been looking for a camera application that incorporated anti-shake (give me a cup of coffee and I have the shakes),  digital zoom, flash, manual save (I take a lot of bad pictures I don’t want to have to delete), leveling feature and video control.  I have been willing to pay for such an application and have bought a few including Camera Genius, Tripod Camera, Snapture, legend camera and the free Gorillacam (all iTunes links).  All of these applications had their pros and cons but the one item missing that I really wanted was video control.  By having video control I could remove the default camera application from the first screen and solely rely on one camera application that had most of my wishlist.

Over on The iPhone Blog Forums is a thread New camera apps where ProCamera ProCamera is being discussed.  Since I still had a credit on my iTunes giftcard I decided to give ProCamera a try since for the iPhone 3GS it supported video.  The application costs $2.99 and I have to tell you it is the best $2.99 I have spent.  This application has everything except a flash mode which the developers plan to add soon.  For the time being I use Photoshop Mobile to adjust the exposure of any dark photos.

ProCamera includes

➜ High quality video recording for 3GS owners.

➜ Anti-shake.

➜ 5x digital zoom.

➜ Full screen trigger to make snapping photos easier.

➜ Manual-Focus functionality.

➜ Virtual horizon for better photo alignment.

➜ Timer for group photos, self portraits.

➜ ProGrid-Arrangement-Guide.

➜ Auto/Manual save toggle .

➜ Background saving.

➜ Camera Roll access with gesture support.

➜ Full resolution email sharing.

➜ Digital compass.

➜ In-app manual.

I depend on the anti-shake and love the option of manually saving photos and video rather than auto-save.  There will be times I want auto-save, especially if I want to take numerous photos in a row so I can toggle back to auto-save.

My wishlist is almost complete.  Flash is coming as well as exposure correction.  It would also be nice to publish to sites like Flickr, Facebook and Twitter but that’s not a necessity.

What photo taking application do you depend on?  Does it do everything you want?  Are you willing to pay for an application that does more?
